As a business owner, you wear multiple hats and have done every job in your company. From running operations, to finances to packaging to stocking inventory and everything in between. Running a business is not easy, but entrepreneurs are fueled by passion and drive to succeed. With the right tools and workflows, certain aspects of a business can be simplified.

Delivery Rates by Distance is one of our apps that allow Shopify merchants to dynamically calculate delivery charges based on distance from store to doorstep. It basically calculates the right price for deliveries to a single location or thousands. Delivery Rates by Distance has been used by business across different industries to allow Shopify merchants to easily charge customers for deliveries based on how far they live from their brick-and-mortar store. It’s that simple.

Homestead Buildings & Sheds is a small family-owned shed shop located in Virginia, United States, delivering their products near their area in Virginia and nearby state, North Carolina. “We were looking for an app that would specifically allow us to offer delivery to specific areas within our delivery range, without having to enter all of the zip codes we deliver to (which is thousands). We added weights to our products, to further define the delivery rate, which is such a cool feature. We are still using the Zapiet and benefitting from it every sale.”

Delivery rates calculations are the easiest way for Shopify merchants to calculate delivery rates. It's all about distance. Distance rate calculations allow you to add seamless delivery calculations at checkout, giving your customer a real-time accurate calculation. All of it is customizable to add certain rates based on a mile or kilometer.

This helps ecommerce by allowing the merchant to be in control of how they deliver and where, not having to rely on third-party courier. If you have multiple locations, this works perfectly by offering delivery each with local pricing. If you are offering delivery up to a maximum distance from your brick-and-mortar store, this is perfect for avoiding customers ordering outside of your delivery radius with a max distance. Tiered pricing also gives you control over how much to charge for deliveries. You can charge one rate for deliveries below a given price and another above.
